A Saudi plane hits a crane at Cairo International Airport

Today, Monday, a Saudi Arabian Airlines plane collided with one of the ground service cranes (cranes) on the runway at Cairo International Airport, while taking off from the airport towards the capital, Riyadh.

Egyptian media, quoting informed sources at Cairo International Airport, said that “the Saudi Airlines plane collided with one of the ground service cranes on the runway at Cairo Airport, while it was preparing to take off to Riyadh,” stressing that no damage was caused to the plane’s fuselage.

According to the sources, “the flight took off immediately on its way to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, after examining the collision area and making sure that it did not cause any damage to the fuselage,” noting that the plane was an Airbus A330-300.

They stressed that “this accident caused a delay in the flight for an hour, until the technical safety of the plane was ensured, and that no damage was caused to it that would affect the safety of the flight and passengers.”

It is noteworthy that a civil passenger plane belonging to the “EgyptAir” airline had a serious accident last Tuesday while landing at Madinah Airport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

EgyptAir said, in a statement, that “a B737/800, which was heading from Cairo International Airport to Madinah Airport, had an accident while landing in Madinah,” adding that during the landing process, an air leak occurred in the two front tires of the plane and it was dealt with.
